These new additions will join our existing lineup of musical legends & newcomers from Africa and the West including Amadou & Mariam, Damon Albarn, Baloji, Charli XCX, Fatoumata Diawara, Jupiter & Okwess International, Kano, Bassekou Kouyate, Baaba Maal, The Noisettes, Jack Steadman (Bombay Bicycle Club), Rokia Traoré and Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs).

So may incredible artists – and this is just for starters. The train leaves London on 2nd September as part of London 2012 Festival, travelling through England, Scotland and Wales. There are scheduled concerts in Middlesbrough, Glasgow, Manchester, Cardiff, Bristol & London as well as pop-up performances at railway stations, schools, factories, offices, shopping centres and homes. We hope you can join us somewhere along the line.

The Africa Express’, produced in association with the Barbican as part of London 2012 Festival, will culminate in a finale concert in London’s Granary Square at King’s Cross on Saturday 8th September. The lineup rotates so please see individual venue sites for specific artists at each concert.

BTW: Here’s what The Times music critic said after catching Africa Express: “An absolute lose-yourself epiphany for everyone who was there. I’m almost reluctant to go to Glastonbury again because I can hardly imagine how it could possibly be topped.” While the verdict of Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea after playing with us in Lagos, Nigeria? ‘That was without a doubt the craziest show I have ever taken part in.’
